Hello Family and Friends!

I wanted to let you all know that Derek and I have decided to adopt a child from Ethiopia. As some of you know, we considered adoption two years ago. Back then, our goal was to adopt a U.S, waiting child (a child from the foster care system). We took a 30 hour parenting class and got half way through our homestudy when we decided to hold off until we knew exactly what we wanted. (In case you're wondering, a homestudy is the process in which a social worker evaluates you and your ability to be a good parent.)  Well, two years later we have decided that international adoption from Ethiopia is the route we want to take. As I type this there is a story on CNN about a gentleman who has created several libraries in Ethiopia so that the children there can have access to books, some for the first time in there lives! Is this a small omen? I don't know. What I do know is that we are looking forward this new quest to expand our family, and we want to share the experience with all of you. If all goes well, we will one day be posting pictures of our new addition. We'll keep you posted!
